In Sports Outreach, we find our mission field in the prison yard, on the court, on the field, on the fairway and in our own gymnasium. Putting forth our best effort, we strive to play each game and each match as Christ would. Not playing for men, but playing as unto the Lord. That in us, each opponent, each umpire, each referee, and each fan will see a difference. Our goal is not to win the game, but to win souls for Christ, keeping in mind as we face our opponents that we may be the only Jesus they ever see. We are taking the light of God into our darkened city and prisons through sports to build bridges to those who need Jesus.
Our Life Center Gymnasium is an excellent facility that allows us use of a variety of activities here at the church. We are also involved in many Sports Outreach opportunities beyond Bethel's facilities. Our mission field includes places such as the Santa Rita County Jail, Soledad State Prison, San Quentin State Prison, various softball fields in the city of San Jose and the Santa Clara Golf and Tennis Club.
Bethel Church has a full Sports Outreach Ministry that provides opportunities for youth and adults on a year round basis. We have quality programs to serve our church attendees as well as their guests. Bethel's Sports Outreach Ministry provides a great opportunity to get to know people while being engaged in wholesome leisure opportunities.
“One of the most effective means of evangelism is through the relationships that are established between the believer and the unbeliever. This is why a sports ministry is such a vital, vibrant ministry in the church today. Our non-Christian friends will play on our teams, meet other Christians, and suddenly going to church doesn't seem like such a frightening thing to do.” |
