Leadership is not about position, it's about your heart. The best example of leadership is Christ. He came to serve and He lead by example. I once heard one of my mentors share that we need to grow daily or we will die gradually. So the question that I pose to our youth and staff is, "What are you doing for personal growth?"

  • Are you reading?
  • Are you writing?
  • Are you breathing into others?
  • Are you a teachable person?
  • What are you doing with your free time?

Based off of these questions, I have felt the need to post a monthly leadership lesson that has been communicated to my staff and our leadership. Not all of the lessons that have been posted or lessons to be posted in the future are ones written from me. Some have been taught to me, some are compiled notes, others are ones that were passed on to me and my staff. We will always try to give credit whenever possible. We hope these become a benefit to you as you develop yourself and the leaders around you.

Partnering with you,
Pastor Robert

_________________________________________________________________________________

Here is a list of books that I am currently reading, or have read, that will help you with personal growth. Some of these books will pertain to your spiritual growth and others will deal with your leadership development and/or business management. There is no order of significance - they are all great books.

One Minute Bible For Starters
by Lawrence Kimbrough

Whether you're a brand new Christian - or just ready to take it seriously this time - the One Minute Bible For Starters is your best first step toward the life you always wanted.

Learn what salvation really cost...and really means. Get an idea of the person God can help you become. Approach each day with a new way of thinking, and so much more!

A Tale of Three Kings by Gene Edwards

All over the world, Christians have taken to heart this simple, powerful, and beautiful story based on the biblical figures of David, Saul and Absalom. Countless Christians have been helped, comforted, and healed from the pain, loss, and heartache they have experienced as a result of unfair treatment at the hands of other believers. You will be profoundly touched by this incomparable story.

The God Chasers by Tommy Tenney

Follow author Tommy Tenney as he ignores the maze of religious tradition and finds himself not chasing God, but caught by the One he had chased.

Fresh Wind Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala

Ask God to ignite his fire in your soul! Pastor Jim Cymbala believes that Jesus wants to renew his people -- to call us back from spiritual dead ends, apathy, and lukewarm religion... Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire shows what the Holy Spirit can do when believers get serious about prayer and the Gospel. As this compelling book reveals, God moves in life-changing ways when we set aside our own agendas, take him at his word, and listen for his voice.

As A Man Thinketh by James Allen

As A Man Thinketh is, quite simply, a set of philosophical reflections on the power of our thoughts... James Allen writes: "All that a man achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the direct result of his own thoughts."

The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino

Not only one of the best books on selling ever written, this is one of the best books on LIVING ever written. This is the gripping tale set in ancient Palestine of a little camel boy, Halfid, who becomes the greatest salesman in the world through following the ten scrolls of success.

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. I John 3:16
